How Many Dudes? Builds & Strategy Ideas (Not a Single Best Build)
Example team archetypes for How Many Dudes? drawn from the official new player guide, with version notes, stat priorities, and why there is no one universal best build.

There is no single "best build" in How Many Dudes?. The official new player guide is explicit: every Dude is strong if you support them, and copying one community comp without understanding it will leave a Dude neglected. Below are example archetypes from the developer's guide (full-release version, July 30, 2026) — starting points to remix, not ranked truths. Launch balance may shift numbers later.
Example archetypes
- Shock & Awe (single-type burst): Samurai Dude + Alien + Taser. Lean into a focused family synergy for explosive burst.
- Stealth swarm: Ninja Dudes turned into a Lich's Thralls gain stealth and crit, slipping past front lines.
- Crit compiler: Stack Hacker Dudes and pile on Crit Chance to compile repeated "Exploits."
- No-tank glass cannon: Skip defense entirely, out-damage the waves before they answer back.
- Relic-focused cores: Build a team around one signature Relic — Explorer's River Raft, Electrician's Fuzzy Socks, Druid's Bear Knuckle, Cowboy's Bandoleer, or Warlock's Shadowy Funnel.
- Unconventional roles: A Medic Dude boosted by a General can become a tank; a Trooper handed a Medical License becomes a healer.
Stat priorities by role
| Role | Stats to chase |
|---|---|
| Tank / frontline | Toughness, Max HP, Temporary Health, Cheat Death |
| Damage dealer | Attack Power, Crit Chance, Cleave, Attack Speed |
| Skirmisher | Evasion, Crit Chance, Run Speed |
| Support / economy | Cash generation, survival for your investors |
Control the Relic pool
Relics enter the pool based on your team's Dude Families and Pre-Posted Flyers. A mono-family team draws a tighter, more repeatable pool; a five-family team opens a much wider one. In Ensemble Mode you pre-pin Flyers (for example, bias toward Vampire Dudes to improve your odds of the Blood Bag Relic).
Economy is a build
The hidden engine is compounding cash. Hand money to the Business Dude up to three times per run to double it each time. Early restraint funds a much stronger late run than spending on the first shiny Relic.
Why we avoid a tier-numbered build list
A numeric "S-tier build" would imply fixed power rankings the game does not actually ship, and launch balance can invalidate demo-era comps. Treat the archetypes above as method + scenario starting points: pick a synergy, learn which stats it wants, then test it against the G.O.A.T. and adjust.
