How Many Dudes? Relics & Trinkets Guide

Launch-version Relic and Trinket rules from the official Dudex: 374 indexed Relics as checked August 3, one Trinket per Roster Dude Type, seven Consumables, and how to control the pool.

Current item answer

As checked August 3, 2026, the official Dudex indexes 374 Relics, 32 Trinkets, 8 Foods, and 7 Consumables. These are live index counts, not a promise that every item is available in every mode, tier, or run.

The official pool rule remains the useful starting point: posting a Flyer adds that Dude Type's seven Relics and its Family's eight Relics to the available Relic pool. Each Relic is added only once. The live total is broader than simply multiplying that pool formula, so use the Dudex index rather than estimating a permanent item count from old articles.

Relics: build modifiers, not standalone ranks

Relics modify abilities, stats, targeting, recovery, economy, and Family interactions. Current examples show why their value is contextual:

RelicCurrent official effect, summarizedBest question to ask
Ablative ShieldKnight gains Temporary Health from healing receivedCan the team heal Knight frequently enough to exploit it?
BandoleerA Dude arriving after Cowboy's Lasso damages nearby enemies based on Max HPDoes the roster already use Lasso and Max HP?
Bat WingsA Vampire taking Fatal Damage Lifesteals nearby enemies until full, then teleports away; cooldown appliesIs Vampire receiving enough support and Lifesteal opportunity?
ArsenalAll Dudes gain Crit Chance and Crit DamageDo the core abilities actually trigger from Crits?
Universal HealthcareAll Dudes gain Max HPIs one-shot protection the missing layer?
VaultA chance to double the payout after a won battleIs the combat shell stable enough to spend a pick on economy?

This is why a universal Relic S–F list would be misleading: a mechanic-enabling Relic can be run-defining for one roster and mostly irrelevant for another.

Control the Relic pool

  • A narrow Family spread keeps fewer Family Relics in the pool and raises the relative chance of Dude-specific pieces.
  • Adding more Families creates more possible synergies but dilutes specific targets.
  • Pre-Posted Flyers make their Relics available immediately. In Ensemble Mode, posting only part of a planned team can keep the early pool smaller.
  • Do not call a build complete until its critical Relic has actually appeared; maintain a fallback plan.

Trinkets: one bound to each Roster Dude Type

The current Dudex states that each Roster Dude Type can have one Trinket bound during a run. Its 32-entry index includes effects such as:

  • ADHD: Run Speed plus periodic dashes to the farthest enemy.
  • Baseball Bat: periodic guaranteed Direct Crit damage to nearby enemies.
  • Medical License: converts damage dealt into healing for an injured Roster Dude.
  • Friendship Bracelet: survives Fatal Damage by equalizing HP with the healthiest Dude, with a cooldown.
  • Weighted Vest: trades Run Speed for Toughness and Attack Power.

Bind a Trinket to the Dude whose baseline Ability benefits from its trigger; do not assign it only because the item has a strong-looking number.

Food and Consumables

Food is a Chef system: the official Dudex lists eight meal names, and the Chef prepares one meal for each Roster Dude Type during a run.

The seven indexed Consumables are Bottled Lightning, Burner Phone, Dude Juice, Health Potion, Meteor, Pocket Dice, and Strange Spores. They cover direct intervention, movement, Temporary Health, revival, healing, enemy control, and rerolls. Current examples:

  • Dude Juice: revives 10 Unconscious Dudes in the Ranch or 5 with full HP during battle.
  • Health Potion: heals half the roster for 50% Max HP, prioritizing the most injured; Overhealing becomes Temporary Health.
  • Pocket Dice: rerolls Stash Relics/Trinkets, Flyers, and the Merchant inventory.
  • Strange Spores: Equalizes Dude HP once per second for three seconds.

A safer item-pick checklist

  1. Does this item trigger from something the roster already does often?
  2. Does it fix the last loss: one-shot, attrition, positioning, damage, or economy?
  3. Is the apparent value dependent on a second item that is not in hand?
  4. Will adding another Family make the critical pool too wide?
  5. Has the live Dudex or a patch changed the wording since the guide or screenshot you saw?
